An alternative to Chrome, without starting over
Changing browser shouldn’t mean losing your bookmarks, your passwords or your extensions. Luma runs on Chromium, the same engine as Chrome, so the switch takes a minute.
Everything comes with you
On first launch Luma imports bookmarks, history and open tabs from Chrome, and saved passwords where Chrome allows it. Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and Firefox work too.
Your extensions install from the Chrome Web Store as they do in Chrome.
What changes
No Google account and no telemetry. Trackers, ads and third-party cookies are blocked from the first page. Your tabs move into workspaces in a sidebar, so work and home stop sharing the same crowded tab bar.
What stays the same
Sites look and work the same, because the engine is the same. Keyboard shortcuts you know, like Ctrl T, Ctrl W and Ctrl Shift T, still do what you expect.
Frequently asked questions
- Do Chrome extensions work in Luma?
- Yes, from the Chrome Web Store. Luma checks their signature and asks before granting a permission.
- Can I go back to Chrome?
- Yes. Luma doesn’t touch Chrome: it stays installed with all your data, and you can keep using both.
- Is Luma free like Chrome?
- Yes, and without an account or ads.
